Believe it or not, the Detroit Tigers are actually winning baseball games. Not only winning, but actually doing so quite well. Now this is far from a perfect season for them, but they have improved on their performance from last season. This is saying something as any improvements are appreciated when you are talking about the Detroit Tigers. This team can go from great to jeez in a matter of innings.
Halfway to a Championship
The Detroit Tigers are doing something that in recent years was new to them, winning. The first part of the season is almost complete and they are almost in first place in the division. This is a remarkable feat that they need to be happy with. Regardless of the rest of the season, there is the first half they can sit back and be proud of when it comes to their 2010 season. This is a far cry of the team that this time last season was looking to buy a win from their opponents. This as a result means that the Management for the team has finally got it right when getting them on the road to winning games.
The Bats are Back
If you are looking for a reason that the team seems to be nearly unstoppable, then you need to make sure that you look towards the lineup. There is more power in the Tigers roster this season than in years past. If the team is able to keep from getting hurt, then the team will be in position to make a run for the postseason with the power that they currently have. Few players or fans for that matter would have seen this team being in the position that they are in at the moment. One word of caution to the Tigers though, this has happened before and they blew their chance when they tried a few years past. Hopefully this will be the year that they strike gold.
Pitching the Basic to any Good Team
In order to have a chance at winning games, you need to make sure that you have the kind of talent that will deliver that. The bullpen for the tigers is in a position that they will be able to deliver the best possible games that they can. There are two sides to any good team, and the pitching department of the Tigers has gotten a little bit of a bad reputation in the past. When the Tigers are losing it is the Pitchers fault, when they win, it is because of the power at the plate. A team is only as good as the two parts that make it up.
The rest of the season will be one of two things, the best that the team has had in the last few years or another case of so much promise thrown down the drain, the jury is still out, but early indications show that this may be a good year for the team. Only time will be the true judge as to what will happen.
