The 2010 schedule of the Cincinnati Bears’ non-conference games number five all in all while the conference games number 7.
Fresno State
The non-conference games start out against the Fresno State U Bulldogs on September 4. In last season’s match between the two, the Bearcats defeated the Bulldogs 28-20 after the Bulldogs put up a fight that threatened to overwhelm Cincinnati for a moment. This was at Nippert Stadium.
During last seasons non-conference and conference games the Bulldogs had scored 85 and 6-2 respectively. But Ryan Matthews was still playing with them. Since Matthews has gone over to the NFL, a big gap has been left in the team and their performance this year is not expected to come close to last year’s. The score predicted for this match is 41-20 favoring the Bearcats.
Indiana State
Next, on September 11, the Bearcats take on the Indiana St. Sycamores in what has been called a ‘monumental’ mismatch with the Sycamores having nothing to match the strength of the Bearcats.
The Sycamores scored last season a whining 1-10. What little resistance they showed Louisville fizzled out as they lost at the end with 10 against Louisiana’s 30. Their encounter with the Bearcats will likely end in a similar point-massacre. It is a good thing that the game is also expected to end very early.
North Carolina State
On September 16, Cincinnati is up against North Carolina. Although the NC team scored 5-7 last season their home score stands at 5-3. The team’s offensive unit made a good showing last season. Even so, unless they have trained their defensive unit hard, they are bound to crumble before the powerful Bearcat attacks.
Experts predict a 45 -24 win for Cincinnati.
Oklahoma
The Bearcats face Oklahoma on September 25. Oklahoma is known for its fast and confusing attack but Cincinnati’s defenses are well prepared and in place for that. The two teams are often rated among the top 20 teams. Their encounter is seen to be a close match.
Oklahoma has a formidable line-up again this year despite losing quarterback Sam Bradford. And since they had it bad in 2009, they are expected to make a comeback for this season.
At home, Cincinnati will enjoy some advantage.
Victory is predicted for Cincinnati 31-27 but those numbers may easily be reversed.
Miami
The game between Miami and Cincinnati is played on October 9, the last day of the non-conference games. The two are 120-year rivals and have annually competed in the Battle for the victory Bell. This is, obviously one of the older rivalries in inter-collegiate football.
For four consecutive times Miami has been defeated by Cincinnati. The Miami team hasn’t exhibited much motivation in recent years and for this season, a fifth successive victory is favored for Cincinnati.
The games of the Bearcats with Miami is usually short. In home games everything is usually decided by half the time.
If analysts have predicted accurately, the score of the Bearcats for the non-conference games of this season stand to get better. However, to up their total score, they will have to perform just as well in their 7 conference games.
