San Diego Padres – A Team With High Hopes

September 4th, 2010 · No Comments · Baseball

Almost every state in the United States of America is known to have at least one baseball team that plays in the Major league. California is one state that is known to have more than one baseball team that plays in the big leagues. The one that we are going to take a look at today is the San Diego Padres. The San Diego Padres are also known to play in West Division National League.

In comparison to the other baseball team that represents the state of California, the San Diego Padres have not done as well as they could. The San Diego Padres joined the major baseball league in the year 1969. Even though they have been around for a number of years, they have only been able to win a minimum number of titles. Looking at past records, the San Diego Padres won the National League pennant in the years 1984 and 1998, which equates to twice.

As most other baseball teams in the league, the San Diego Padres are also known to have four different uniforms. Out of these four, two of them are used more commonly which are; home uniform and away uniform. The other two uniforms are occasionally used if the circumstances require so. These uniforms are referred to as alternative one and alternative two. The home uniform for the San Diego Padres is known to be made of two main colors; navy blue and white. The socks and cap are navy blue in color where as the remainder is white.

There is another major difference that is noticeable between the home and away uniform other than the colors. The home uniform has the word “Padres” across the front of the jersey where as the away uniform has the word “San Diego” in its place.

Every state is known to have a symbol which is used as a cap insignia. The San Diego Padres cap insignia is known to be compromised of the letters “S” and “D”. These two letters are joined together to make them look like one word. The letters that are used on the cap are known to be white in color where as the background is navy blue.

In comparison to other baseball team logos, the San Diego Padres logo is quite detailed in nature. The eye catching part of the entire logo is the team name that runs across the main front of the logo. The word “Padres” covers most of the logo. The remainder of the logo is an outline of an upside down pyramid with the word “San Diego” written in small letters in the top right hand corner.

The management of the San Diego Padres has done quite a good job of making the team what it is today. However due to the lack of silverware earned, there has been a lot of speculation that the owners will be changed.

There are many souvenirs including the team uniform that can be purchased from the San Diego Padres official online web store.
