Doing weight training routines brings many benefits to your body. One of the main benefits is focused on your metabolism. You will begin to notice an increase in your metabolism, giving you more energy. Your body will begin to tone up and improve in appearance.

Resistance is very important in order to get the best results from a weight training program. As your body begins to get used to the routines you are doing, you want to increase these routines. If you started out doing sets of 10 bicep curls then you want to increase it to 20 bicep curls. This allows you to gain some more muscle while doing these exercises.

It is also very important to have days to rest. You do not want to do the same exercise routines seven days out of the week. Your body will get used to this and there will be no muscle gain. You want to change the muscles you are targeting. For example three days out of the week you can target your legs and thigh muscles, while four days out of the week you target your arms and chest.

Before doing any type of exercise it is important to warm up. Starting a work out without any warm up exercises can cause injury. You will also notice soreness after a routine when you do not warm up. Stretching can be considered a warm up exercise.

Weights will be needed in a weight training program. If this is your first time doing these type of exercises, then you should start slow. Begin with a five pound dumbbell and see how your body handles that. If these seem to light for you increase it by 5-10 pounds. As your body starts getting used to this amount increase it again to gain resistance.

If you are wanting to focus on your biceps you can do a bicep curl. This exercise can be done by holding weights and keeping your hands on your sides. Bring the weights towards your shoulders by lifting your arms and bring your elbows towards your body. Then lower your hands back to your sides. Do a set of 10 if you are just starting and increase as you get used to this.

Weight training routines are very helpful in improving the appearance of the body by toning it. You should be consistent in your routines to get the best results possible. Determination is what will make it happen.
