Endurance has always been a major aspect when it comes to cycling. Greater endurance gives you an advantage over competition when you can last longer over hilly terrain. With greater strength you tend to outperform your competitors.
You may use this article as a guide to increase that stamina of yours by learning the tricks of a proper mountain bike work out.
Here in the initial work out we try to strengthen upon those leg muscles of yours. This can help you get over those harder up slope terrains that normally cause problems to most. You should preferably ride your bike in the highest possible gear in order to strain those leg muscles to the maximum possible limit so that they will be able to withstand stress on any course in the future.
The gear you choose needs to be quite high but not necessarily the highest possible gear on your bike. Remember that you are trying to toughen up your leg muscles and have to choose a gear that challenges them to increase based on your current leg strength.
The next step you need to go through is to ride on the selected gear for a reasonable time period. Do not over strain by taking up very high gears initially but go in for a nice smooth flat surface for a while before attempting higher gears and gradually increase your gear. Keep at it for at least 20 minutes.
Another technique is to tackle an elevated route. You could see how long you last on such a route. Make sure you have properly chosen your resistant gear for this route and then try to tear up the track.
Never forget that you should start with a gradual sloping route when trying the latter method. If you directly go in for the very hilly routes you have a great chance of falling and hurting your self. Hence try a lesser hilly route till you are confident of taking the hilly ones.
Do not neglect other aspects such as oxygen levels which also play a major role in increasing the level of your performance on the track.
