Find Out More About The Boonsboro Soccer League

September 6th, 2010 · No Comments · Football

Who can join the Boonsboro soccer league? It is available for boys and girls from Pee Wee soccer up to the U19 team. It is relatively inexpensive, with registration fees starting at 25 dollars and inexpensive uniform costs for ages 9 and up.

The Boonsboro Soccer League is the local Maryland affiliate of United States Youth Soccer and is also associated with the Frederick County Soccer League and the Baltimore Beltway Soccer League. It was established as a volunteer, not for profit league in 1995. You can enter kids into teams at Pee Wee, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U19 levels, helping them develop into the sport as they get older.

For example, if you have a smaller, faster player upfront alongside a taller, more physically imposing centre forward then this can often be a tactical advantage. It may be a little old fashioned but often it can be simple as the big guy holding up, getting the shot away and the little guy being quick enough to get the rebound.

You may not get masses of points at a soccer game, but this is all part of the drill. It is about patience, smart build up play and being aware of where your team mates are positioned on the field. With practises twice a week for most teams, a range of drills will help them develop a good all round game.Regardless of the position a player has on the field, there are certain aspects that all players should know. Effective ball control will ensure they keep the ball at crucial times, while knowing how to pass between team mates can help team mates learn to trust each other on the ball.

A good coach will make sure kids know that is not just about the spectacular. While every kid wants to learn the cool tricks, knowing when to do them in a game under pressure is another story. Knowing the basics is vital for them to build on and a good coach will make sure the kids know this.

If you want more proof of how valuable youth development is, take a look at the 2010 soccer world cup. Germany and Spain had two of the most successful teams, with Germany coming in third and Spain going on to win. Both teams had a significant amount of players that came in through the youth ranks.

In short, these are the kind of skills and inside knowledge that your kids can develop, alongside the social benefits of being part of a team and engaging in competition. For more information go on the official website.
