An important part to your golf game would no doubt be your golf swing, however sometimes you will hear people talking about a one swing golf plane versus a two swing golf plane, what are they talking about? Generally when they talk about a swing plane, it simply refers to the golf swing circular movement that you will be doing, which means the arc you are following when you perform a swing.
What is the difference between a one plane and a two plane?
A simple way to think about this is you are either a one swing plane guy or something else; it is very seldom that you will find people caught in a crossover of the two. That said, you one swing plane might look different from your friend’s because there are literally hundreds of different variation to it. It is important to figure out because you will most definitely struggle with your swing if you use a one plane swing on a two plane shot.
How do you set them apart?
The major indication as to whether you are a one swing or a two sing lies in your arms and your shoulder. How they behaved during your setup, back swing, transition and down swing will determine if you are more of a one swing guy or a two swing one. During a one swing plane, you will not be noticing any sort of disconnection from your movement, whereas you will find that your arms and shoulder movements will not be as consistent in a two swing plane, as such this would also means it is easier to lose control performing a two swing plane.
You can also tell the two apart during the transition period of a golf swing. During a one plane swing, you will rarely see the clubs being raised above the golfer’s head, and as such the golfer do not need as much power to force the club down to the ball. This can be a problem for a two swing golf plane because many people will lose their body alignment when performing the down swing. Two plane swing can also sometimes feel more powerful to the user because they are forcing the club down, where in reality the it is not necessarily the case because a well struck one plane swing can be as powerful, not to mention accurate than a two swing one.
